Service Description:
|
Offers eligibility screening, language skills assessment and referral to government-funded English and French language programs including:
- Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)
- LINC Home Study
- English as a Second Language (ESL)
- French as a Second Language (FSL) programs
- Enhanced Language Training (ELT)
- Occupation-Specific Language Training (OSLT)
- Specialized Language Training (SLT)
- Language Assessment Centre is located in Oakville and also provides language assessments at itinerant locations in Burlington and Milton
- appointments will be made at the most accessible and convenient location for the client and are available online for English only

- Call ahead to verify eligibility, book assessment appointment and confirm documents ( (Permanent Resident (PR) card or Landing paper with passport) ) to access service
- Language assessments are by appointment only at the itinerant sites
- walk in clients accepted at the Oakville site
- call the Oakville CLARS Language Assessment Centre to book an appointment at any location

Eligibility / Target Population:
|
Adults 18 years or older are eligible if they meet one of the following criteria:
- Canadian citizens born outside of Canada
- permanent resident
- Convention refugees, protected persons or asylum seekers
- workers admitted under the Live-In Caregiver program
- applicants under other programs holding the initial letter of approval from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
