Service Description:
|
Provides hybrid (virtual and in-person) group-based therapeutic communication services for adults with aphasia * program follows a life participation approach with a focus on enhancing communication skills and supporting quality of life * services include:- conversation group therapy
- aphasia book club
- aphasia support groups
- caregiver and family support groups
- Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) support groups
- partner communication training
Groups are facilitated by speech-language pathologists and communicative disorders assistants, with support from a social worker

$10 per session, paid as a 3-month membership

Eligibility / Target Population:
|
Medically stable adults 18 years and older with aphasia due to stroke or injury to the brain who live in the community or retirement home setting * must be willing to participate in supportive conversation groups * must demonstrate appropriate behaviour in a social group setting * must have no or minimal cognitive difficulties * client care needs (i.e. toileting, feeding) are met by client or caregiver * must have access to internet and a computer or tablet
